CAASTLC's Seeds of Hope Farm

Seeds of Hope Farm, a project of Community Action Agency of St. Louis County, Inc,  is committed to ending poverty by increasing educational attainment and food security.  the arboretum enhances the farm’s outdoor classroom setting and STEM-themed curriculum for visiting students.  They educate the public about backyard fruit production and the benefits of native plants.  A special feature of the plantings is a merging of the themes of fruit production and native planting as we highlight the fruit of persimmon, pawpaw, and serviceberry trees, and aronia and elderberry shrubs.  The trees and shrubs play a role in the urban ecosystem, supporting insects and birds, while also providing delicious and nutritious fruit.
