City of Lakeland Arboretum

Description

The City of Lakeland Arboretum is composed of several collections, beginning with The Lake Morton Flowering Tree Collection – this is the first portion of our city-wide arboretum. Ultimately, there will be a catalogued and mapped fruit tree collection at Lakeland’s botanical display garden (Hollis Garden) and a palm collection on our downtown Lake Wire. These collections were created and have been maintained for several decades by the City of Lakeland Parks Department and stand as a testament to our city’s unique interest in horticulture, arboriculture and botany over the years. Currently, our IT department is helping us to map these collections on ArcGIS for our citizens. This entails pictures and descriptions of each individual tree accessible via QR code and smart phone.
