Elmwood Cemetery

Elmwood, established in 1846, is an 86-acre green space in downtown. Rich in history and memorial art and architecture, the Elmwood collection of trees includes 91 species among its 1,450 trees. Elmwood, designated as an important Underground Railroad site, has self-guided tours, including an African American Heritage tour, a business leaders’ tour and a political and military leaders’ tour. Tree identification signs include QR codes to enable visitors to see and learn more about each species of tree within the beautiful grounds.
