The City of Frankfort is working to increase the number and diversity of trees throughout the downtown arboretum. 

The Forestry Committee diligently researched and planned to place specific trees in the city’s right-of-way. These trees were carefully selected to grow well and flourish in urban areas despite utilities, streets, traffic and sidewalks. 

A stroll through Frankfort’s urban arboretum allows you to enjoy the beauty, scent, and touch of a wide range of trees. You can experience the quiet pleasure of a variety of mature trees, learn about them and appreciate their place in town. You might even want to plant some trees of your own! Every tree in the ground is a step closer to a better environment. 

The City of Frankfort offers a delightful tree walk that introduces a broad range of trees that grow well in the region. Some are native to the area, others are less common, but all were planted to improve the charm, beauty and health of the downtown area. The walk begins at the tourism office, but you can start at any tree on the map.
