Genesis Arboretum
The Genesis Arboretum is managed by a group of high school students who are learning the importance of trees and the benefits they provide to both people and nature. The academic purpose of the arboretum is to provide real life practicality and application of learning in their backyard as they act as caregivers and stewards of what has been entrusted to them. The Genesis Arboretum strives to use FLEx (Formational Learning Experiences) opportunities. It provides students with authentic (real work, real need, real people) opportunities to practice living as community-builders, servant-workers, creation-caretakers, and beauty-creators. They are currently prioritizing acquiring as many native species as possible. Currently there are six species of oak, three maple, two honeylocust, as well as many other species.
