Hagley Museum and Library
Hagley Museum and Library is the ancestral home of the du Pont family that went on to create and support key public gardens in the Philadelphia area. Hagley's majestic trees, as well as its position along the scenic Brandywine River are traits that are important both to its history as a gun powder manufacturing site, and the natural beauty available to visitors across the 235-acre property. Visitor's can see the original du Pont family home and office, a French-style vegetable garden showcasing heirloom plants, an innovative Pollinator Garden, and grand trees throughout.
Notable and state champion trees include a du Pont Buckeye (Aesculus ×dupontii), Persian Ironwood (Parrotia persica), Witchhazel (Hamamelis virginiana), and highly trained fruit trees (such as the "en quenouille" or "cone shape" of the antique pear varieties)."
