The Hartman Arboretum was founded in 2001 as a non-profit organization. It’s mission is to be a place where people can be close to nature and enjoy a diversity of trees and shrubs. Hartman Arboretum was developed specifically for the education of children about plant life in our environment. Many of the trees and shrubs are native to Southern Indiana, Southern Illinois, and Western Kentucky, or the Shawnee Hills area. In addition, new plant varieties, not common to this area, can also be observed.
