Imua Discovery Garden

Description

Imua Family is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and families in Maui through innovative programs and community-driven initiatives. One of their most exciting projects is the creation of the Imua Discovery Gardens, a vibrant space designed to inspire curiosity, promote environmental stewardship, and foster learning through hands-on experiences.

The Imua Discovery Gardens will serve as an educational arboretum, featuring a diverse collection of native and non-native plants, as well as interactive exhibits that highlight the importance of biodiversity and conservation. The historic six acre property is shaded by 7 120 year old Monkeypod Trees that have been classified as "exceptional trees" in the State of Hawaii. The gardens aim to provide children and families with a unique opportunity to connect with nature, cultivate a sense of wonder, and engage in outdoor activities that promote physical and mental well-being.

Historically, the land designated for the Imua Discovery Gardens has a rich background as once part of the Sugar Plantation Era, today as part of an arboretum the property is now affiliated with the American Public Garden Association. This legacy underscores the commitment to preserving and showcasing the beauty of flora, while also serving as a platform for community education. By transforming this space into the Imua Discovery Gardens, Imua Family Services is not only honoring its historical significance but also creating a dynamic environment where future generations can learn, grow, and thrive amidst the beauty of nature.
