Kaneko Arboretum at Lancaster Cemetery
The Kaneko Arboretum at Lancaster Cemetery is a 22 acre urban forest hidden in downtown Lancaster, PA. The arboretum supports the Lancaster Cemetery’s mission to provide an attractive sanctuary for all visitors and the collection of trees and shrubs within the cemetery are living memorials for those buried on the grounds. The arboretum contains magnificent specimens of Ginkgo (including the PA State Co-Champion) and Horse chestnut, as well as majestic Tulip trees, Bald cypress, Slippery elm, Shagbark hickory, Bur oak, and many others that tower over the Victorian cemetery and it’s monuments to the deceased. New additions of Pawpaw, American elm, London plane tree, American linden, Yellowwood, and Hackberry complement the historic trees, and bring species diversity to our arboretum.
