The Kuhnert Arboretum is located on 20 acres of land abutting the Moccasin Creek on the South edge of Aberdeen, South Dakota. The Arboretum was established and dedicated in 1974 after Erv Kuhnert who was a long time Park Superintendent for the Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.
In 2014, a new master plan was developed. Since then, there has been a series of upgrades and new development such as recreational trails, irrigation system, gazebo, rose garden, children’s area, and many new trees and plants. There are currently over 64 varieties of trees that include signage.
