Longview Arboretum and Nature Center

The Longview Arboretum & Nature Center is a 26-acre nonprofit public garden and living outdoor museum located in the heart of East Texas. Established to inspire appreciation for nature, conservation, and environmental education, the Arboretum serves as a gathering place where visitors of all ages can experience the beauty and benefits of the natural world. Through gardens, educational programs, community events, summer science camps, concerts, and seasonal celebrations, the Arboretum continues to grow as an important cultural and educational asset for the Longview community and surrounding region.

The Arboretum’s collections reflect both the beauty and diversity of plants suited to East Texas landscapes. Notable trees and woody plant collections include native species such as Shumard Oak, Winged Elm, Eastern Redcedar, Loblolly Pine, American Beautyberry, and Flowering Dogwood, alongside ornamental and specialty specimens including the Alexandria Magnolia, Chinese Fringe Tree ‘Tokyo Tower,’ Dura Heat River Birch, Natchez Crape Myrtle, Sweetgum, and several unique Japanese Maples including ‘Bonnie Bergman,’ ‘Peaches n Cream,’ and ‘Skeeter’s Broom.’ The collection also features colorful flowering shrubs and specialty plants such as Autumn Cheer Azalea, Solar Glow Azalea, Mountain Snow Pieris, Florida Anise, Chinese Snowball Viburnum, and Sunshine Ligustrum, creating year-round beauty and educational opportunities for visitors.
