The Monty Andrews Arboretum is situated on 4.5 acres within West Blalock Park in Venice, Florida. It serves as an outdoor learning center where people of all ages can explore and enjoy nature’s beauty. The arboretum features more than 100 different trees and palms with each species identified with an information sign detailing its unique characteristics. A self-guided tree walk highlights some of the special trees in the arboretum. Besides the vast collection of trees, the arboretum has a number of specialty gardens, including a certified butterfly garden by the North American Butterfly Association. Life-size sculptures in the park also allow visitors to learn about Florida native wildlife. With its shady, accessible walking paths and numerous benches and picnic tables, the arboretum is a tropical oasis in the heart of the city.
