The Nash County Arboretum, located in Nashville, North Carolina, was established in 2001 as a living laboratory dedicated to public and green industry education. Developed through NC State and NC A&T Cooperative Extension, the Arboretum serves as a hands-on resource for home gardeners, landscape professionals, and students seeking to expand their knowledge of woody ornamentals, native plants, and sustainable landscape practices. Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Arboretum continues to fulfill its founding mission as one of eastern North Carolina’s premier horticulture education destinations.

The Arboretum’s collections are curated with education in mind, offering visitors the opportunity to observe a diverse range of trees, shrubs, and ornamental plantings in a managed landscape setting. A recent addition, the Arboreal Trail, invites visitors to explore the grounds along a dedicated pathway designed to connect them with the Arboretum’s woody plant collections in an immersive, interpretive experience. The Arboretum is also home to the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program, whose members contribute thousands of hours annually to maintaining and expanding the collections for the benefit of the broader community.
