Native Plant Trail, City of Daphne, AL

Located approximately 1.5 miles off Interstate 10, Daphne’s Native Plant Trail is devoted exclusively to indigenous trees and shrubs. This trail loops 1/3 miles identifying 64 featured species; tree tags identify an additional 100 replicates and less conspicuous woody species along this blacktopped foot path. A georeferenced map locates and provides identifying characteristics and landscaping properties of featured species. Planted specimens increase the variety of displayed species, emphasizing those suitable for home landscaping. The trail shades an associated disc-golf course. A botanical highlight is a ½ acre thicket of mountain laurel at the southern tip of its range.
