Oakland County Government Campus

The Oakland County government campus spans 460 acres and is home to over 5,500 trees, including native species, exotic cultivars, fruiting trees, and heritage specimens. Notable features include the 100+ year-old apple orchard with over 60 trees, several century-old native white oaks, and a descendant of the original Liberty Tree.

In addition to rare and visually striking trees, the arboretum demonstrates smart site-specific plantings. Black spruces thrive in low, wet areas, hemlocks are utilized in shaded areas, and various oak and maple varieties help to mitigate the heat island effect from the abundant municipal hardscape.
