The Pennsylvanis State University, Schuylkill Arboretum, as part of the campus, sits on approximately 90 acres of land, including a large portion of natural wooded areas. The University has also included a number of woody plants, especially trees, in its growing collection throughout its history on site. They currently have 38 fully documented species and over 400 trees throughout the main campus area with areas to still document.
Next to the Classroom building is located a Chinese scholar tree, very fitting for a learning institution. Additionally, the arboretum has one of the largest documented Box Elder trees in the state of Pennsylvania.
