The Hiram College Arboretum

The Hiram College Arboretum encompasses the college’s 75-acre rural campus. Within this area there are nearly 100 species of tree and shrub of many varieties. Of the nearly 1000 trees recorded on campus, 70% are native to the state of Ohio. Identification signs mark 50 of the trees in accessible areas to provide informal education opportunities. This list of trees includes a 200-year-old white oak (Quercus alba) and a 100-year-old ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba). Along with informal education, the arboretum is used as a living lab for courses and student research and as important green space for the campus community.
