With more than 6,700 trees on campus, and as the recipient of $50 million dollars for landscape enhancement, The University of Texas at Dallas is committed to maintaining our fabulous landscapes. In demonstrating this commitment, UT Dallas has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a Tree Campus Higher Education since 2016, a program that helps campuses establish and maintain healthy community forests, and as an ArbNet Level I Arboretum since 2021. Trees of note include the southern magnolias that line the UTD Student Union Mall, live oaks that have thrived since before campus was formed in 1969, and ginkgo trees that are considered living fossils, planted in celebration of Texas Arbor Day in November 2020.
