The Urban Arboretum was dreamed up over 10 years ago to bring beauty to an otherwise barren strip ofspace, foster an opportunity for education and engagement, and create potential for partnerships to advance ecology, biodiversity, and equality around the nation and world. The owners were originally fascinated by the idea through a gifted Arbor Day Foundation (ADF) membership where they were able to learn about the impact of trees through several resources including tree bulletins and bimonthly publications. Ultimately, the arboretum has become a joy and to watch things grow and support all sorts of various flora and fauna.
Originally, this land had 5 large mature trees- silver, red, and sugar maples, an ash tree, and a common hackberry.
