UF/IFAS Extension Hillsborough County
The UF/IFAS Extension Hillsborough County Arboretum is a 1.5-acre educational landscape designed to promote environmental stewardship and horticultural literacy. Developed through the collaborative efforts of UF/IFAS horticulture and agriculture programs, the arboretum features a curated collection of native trees, fruit trees, and other regionally significant species. It serves as a living laboratory for education, Master Gardener training, and public outreach, while also supporting sustainable landscape practices.
Adjacent to Florida-Friendly demonstration gardens, pollinator habitats, and vegetable plots, the arboretum is integrated into a broader educational campus that showcases best practices throughout a variety of landscapes. Oversight is provided by Extension agents with support from county leadership and trained volunteers, particularly those in the Florida Master Gardener Volunteer Program. These volunteers assist with plant care, educational programming, and community engagement, helping ensure the arboretum remains a vibrant and evolving resource for Hillsborough County residents.
