ArbNet advances tree conservation through coordinated research, evaluation, and targeted support initiatives.

ArbNet is committed to advancing global tree conservation, building the capacity of arboreta, and sharing knowledge through targeted initiatives and partnerships.

These projects advance the network’s mission to connect and empower arboreta through collaborative, conservation-driven initiatives. Each effort brings together professionals, institutions, and data to strengthen global tree conservation, improve arboretum management practices, and foster innovation in research and education.

ArbNet Evaluation

In order to help guide the future of ArbNet and how we might best serve the community of arboreta and tree professionals, ArbNet has begun a comprehensive evaluation.

Urban Nursery Project 2024–2027

The Morton Arboretum’s Chicago Region Trees Initiative and ArbNet programs are leading a national collaborative team to assess the USDA Forest Service’s Reforestation, Nursery, Genetic Resource unit (RNGR) nursery inventory and implement additional urban and community forestry (UCF)-centric assessments.

The BGCI/ArbNet Partnership Programme was created in 2017 as a funding opportunity to support international collaborations between tree-focused botanic gardens and arboreta for the purpose of exchanging skills, resources and expertise to advance tree conservation efforts.
