Pleasant Hills Arboretum Awarded Level I Accreditation

Pleasant Hills Arboretum has been awarded a Level I Accreditation through the ArbNet program. By achieving particular standards of professional practices deemed important for arboreta and botanic gardens, they are now recognized amongst other professional public gardens in the Morton Register of Arboreta.

Nestled within the Borough of Pleasant Hills, south of Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania, a unique and flourishing Arboretum spreads out on sixteen beautiful acres of woodland surrounding an inviting meadow.

The Pleasant Hills Arboretum was established in 1950 by A.W. Robertson, one of the founders of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. He had visited the Arnold Arboretum in Boston which deeply inspired him to found an arboretum within his own community of Pleasant Hills on the undeveloped acreage that he himself owned. This designated land is now home to several mature trees that have been recognized as being over two hundred years old by Allegheny County in its bicentennial year.
