Ferncliff Cemetery & Arboretum
Ferncliff Cemetery and Arboretum is a place of quiet reflection and natural beauty, serving as both a community resource and a living landscape of learning. The grounds feature nearly 100 species of trees and plants thoughtfully integrated into the cemetery’s serene setting. From the stately Ohio Buckeye-Aesculus giabra, to the graceful Weeping Higan Cherry- Prunus subhirtella “Pendula”, each tree contributes to the rich diversity that defines Ferncliff’s landscape.
Visitors are welcome to explore our 218-acre property through self-guided walking tours or seasonal trolley tours led by local historians. The Arboretum provides habitat for a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, squirrels, red foxes, and numerous bird species. Ferncliff is also proud to be home to two Ohio State Champion trees: the Rusty Viburnum- Viburnum rufidulum, and the Blackhaw Viburnum -Viburnum prunifoloum.
The Ferncliff Foundation, their 501 c3 supports their efforts through educational workshops and community programs designed to increase awareness and appreciation of the Arboretum and its natural treasures.
They invite everyone to visit Ferncliff Cemetery and Arboretum and wander their scenic grounds, and discover the peace, history, and natural wonder that make their Arboretum such a special part of the Springfield community.
