The Lynn R. Lowrey Arboretum

Description

The Lynn R. Lowrey Arboretum is a teaching and research resource of Rice University.  The Lowrey Arboretum includes a collection of trees and woody plants dispersed throughout the 300-acre campus that represent native and introduced plant species which are suitable to the wet prairie climate of the Houston area.  As an outdoor classroom spanning the Rice campus, the Arboretum supports environmentally-focused programs in biology, engineering, architecture and literature.

Dedicated on March 18, 1999 the Lowrey Arboretum honors the distinguished horticulturist whose life and work were dedicated to spreading knowledge and cultivating appreciation for the trees and plants of the American Gulf Coast and northern Mexico.
