MTO Shahmaghsoudi
The M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi Los Angeles Center Arboretum is home to a rich collection of vegetation that is supported by the tireless effort of its volunteers. The garden, which spans 5000 square feet, features 55 species of trees and plants and includes a serene koi pond nestled within its beautiful landscape.
The arboretum serves as a learning tool that celebrates many of the principles of Sufism; it not only offers a peaceful retreat to practice the Sufi art of meditation, Tamarkoz, but also emphasizes the manifestations of many Sufi teachings through nature.
Furthermore, the landscape incorporates sustainable practices. It features an herb garden that grows natural medicinal plants intended for practical use by guests and volunteers, as well fruit trees that provide ingredients for shared meals for the volunteers and a vertical garden for vegetable growth.
