Sequoyah Hills Arboretum

Description

The Sequoyah Hills Arboretum, in Knoxville, TN, lies in a broad bend of the Tennessee River. Established in 2023 by a committee of the Sequoyah Hills Association, it contains more than 40 species of native trees on public accessible land, including  a 3-mile floodplain, 2 small neighborhood parks, a greenway, and elementary school grounds. There is a sacred Cherokee mound on the greenway, and the city is working with a Cherokee Nation group to protect and honor the mound. People come from the wider Knox County community to walk, jog, play pickleball and basketball, practice yoga, and spend family time. This Level 1 Arboretum will be used for scheduled tree walks, scout projects, school outings, and other educational programs on the value and beauty of native trees
