Sertoma Arboretum
Sertoma Park is home to the Sertoma Arboretum, the first arboretum in North Dakota to be accredited through ArbNet. It features 65 unique tree species cultivated by the Grand Forks Park District Forestry Department.
They have trees and shrubs native to North Dakota that provide interest in all seasons such as Cottonwoods, American Linden, Black Hills Spruce, Blue Spruce, Hackberry, Ohio Buckeye, Ironwood, and much more. They also have non-native species sprinkled throughout the arboretum to create a diverse and stunning environment. Some unique varieties they have include Korean Sun Pear, Catalpa, Kentucky Coffee Tree, the Amur Cork Tree, and Blue Beech. With nearly a dozen crabapple varieties paired with other stunning spring blooming trees, springtime at Sertoma is fragrant and delightful. The established elms and cottonwoods provide plenty of shade in the summer to enjoy all the features of the park. Autumn is filled with comfort as all the trees, especially the Maples, Aspen, Crabapples, Aspen, and Oak’s start changing color. Their snowy winters give an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and contrast of all the pines such as the Swiss Stone, Scot’s, and Mugo pines. The beautiful tree varieties are planted throughout the park and can be located using the TreePlotter Interactive Dashboard.
